SUSTAIN is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to improve nutrition in developing countries through innovative applications of food science and technology.

The organization develops solutions to nutritional challenges in collaboration with industry, often by adapting for low income/resource settings technologies and systems that have been proven in the commercial sector. SUSTAIN partners with the scientific and public sectors, industry and nonprofit and international agencies to build consensus and assure that solutions are well-vetted, operationally feasible, and cost-effective. By improving upon or introducing nutritious foods under sustainable business models SUSTAIN ensures that nutritionally enhanced products become and remain accessible to the people in greatest need.

SUSTAIN is widely regarded for its objectivity in addressing technical, scientific and cost issues related to nutritionally enhanced foods and food quality systems.
